Oxnard, Ventura County
Channel Islands National Park lies across the water from Oxnard, close enough that Anacapa Island shows on the horizon on clear days. The park was established in 1980 and protects five islands. Boats to the islands leave from Channel Islands Harbor on the Oxnard waterfront, a crossing of roughly an hour to Anacapa.
